This week, I wanted to sit down with you all and share one of my favorite towns in all of Connecticut, in fact, it’s the town where I grew up and a town I try to visit quite often Glastonbury Connecticut.

With the holiday season upon us, I can’t help but reminisce on past holiday seasons and the joyful times I’ve had exploring Glastonbury Connecticut. From running, errands with my Mom, or sneaking trips in to visit Matt, this little New England town is so special to me and I always try to carve time out of my schedule to visit its historic Main Street come fall.

Recently I’ve gotten quite a few emails asking for recommendations on which towns to visit in Connecticut, and while I’ve touched on the shoreline many times; I figured I’d share this town with you all and a little more information about central Connecticut. Below we’ve shared the local spots, Matt and I used to visit daily, and other seasonal attractions that we hope will inspire you all to visit central Connecticut soon!

1) Stay

Personally, I would recommend visiting Glastonbury just for a day trip or a lunch outing; but if you’re traveling from far away and need a place to stay’ I’d recommend staying at one of the many local inns. Growing up, every morning my Dad would drive me by The Connecticut River Inn on my way to school. I would always gaze out my window and admire its seasonal decor and striking colonial design. From weddings to special events, this historic Inn brings a glimmer of glam and delight into the heart of Glastonbury’s historic district. With plenty to see, eat and do all within walking distance, makes this historic Inn an ideal one for travelers. In fact, Matt and I would walk down Main Street to take in the breathtaking holiday lights with hot cocoa in hand.

2) Eat

If you’re looking for a local breakfast place, then do I have the place for you! In fact, I would say you haven’t ‘actually’ been to Glastonbury unless you’ve eaten at Ken’s Corner ! Whenever I’m in town this bustling joint is the first place I visit.  I recommend changing out of your holiday PJ’s and heading to Ken’s as soon as you wake up, as the line can get quite long, but it’s well worth it.  Not only is the food great but the atmosphere is exciting, and the unlimited coffee refills are right up my alley. I think the real reason I love Ken’s is that you just never know who you’ll bump into, from locals to familiar visitors, Ken’s is something we all have in common. On that note, if you don’t have time for a full sit-down meal, or time to wait in Ken’s Corner’s line I’d recommend grabbing a chocolate chip muffin at Harpo’s Bakery…they are actually my favorite breakfast treat.

Okay, whether you’re meeting a business client or going out to eat with your entire family, you’re likely to catch me at Plan B Burger now and again. This burger style restaurant is one of my favorites. From the edgy decor to the crispy and salty french fries, I’d likely bring you to Plan B if it’s your first time visiting Glastonbury. Located in the center of town, this burger restaurant was a go-to double date location for Matt and I, way back in the day.

Before leaving Glastonbury make sure to stop by Munson’s Chocolate , owned and operated by a local New England family for over three generations. My mom always fills our holiday stockings with a box of Munson’s gummy bears each, they are a delicacy so make sure to snag a few next time you’re in town.

3) To-Do:

Oh boy, there is so much to do in this little town. In fact, these images were captured by my Mom just the other day as we were visiting and walking through the town’s historic district. When push comes to shove, my favorite thing to do when visiting Glastonbury is simply to walk the historic Main Street with Matt. I was lucky enough to grow up in a historic home, so my love for such architecture is unparalleled’ well…until the holiday decorations go up, at that point I become obsessed. From Halloween to Holiday decor, and honestly no matter the season, Matt and I love walking down Main Street and exploring all the nooks and crannies of this colonial town. In fact, this town was originally settled in 1693, and a lot of the colonial homes featured on my Instagram account come from the likes of Main Street. So grab a friend, a warm tweed jacket and a good camera, to capture New England lifestyle for yourself.

Okay while walking down Main Street is my favorite, there are still a few picturesque attractions you should check out before leaving! First and foremost you must stop at the Old Cider Mill for apple cider in the fall; it’s actually where I stopped to pick up the apple cider I’m sipping on in these images. Next up I would recommend checking out Belltown Hill Orchard’s for apple and berry picking from May until October; and don’t forget a ride across the Connecticut River via the historic Rocky Hill – Glastonbury ferry, that began operation way back in 1655, during the summer. I mean, I could go on and on about things to do; but I’m going to end this post here to not overwhelm anyone, and give you a chance to explore on your own.

Okay, I hope you enjoyed this post and if you did I’d be happy to write a few more posts styled like this one; as a touch on different towns in the area. Overall Matt and I are beyond excited to be back in Connecticut and I can’t wait to share more of this beautiful state with you all, especially as we head into the holiday season.
