Newport Guide - The Coastal Confidence

Hey, Guys! I have gotten a lot of emails from you all about my favorite spots in New England., specifically when it comes to snapping blog photos. Okay, there are soooooo many good spots in New England for photoshoots, so it was hard to select just a few.

So Matt & I were trying to brainstorm all last week, trying to figure out the best way to provide you guys with ideal New England locations and figured a ‘travel guide’ format would be ideal,

Whether you’re a blogger looking for a New England photo shoot spot or just a gal wanted to explore more of your New England roots, we got you!

& because there are sooooo many spots in New England we broke these guides into states, so today we are focusing on one of my favorites Rhode Island.

Of course, it was only fair to bring on my Rhode Island TCC Crew Members, to help me with this round-up :)! Meet Mollie & Corinne, both of these gals live in Rhode Island and together the three of us put together a rocking guide!

I hope this helps inspires you all & to get out there and explore!

Favorite Neighborhoods:

Ocean Drive Historic District: Recommended by TCC Crew Member Mollie, this neighborhood is a 12 miles drive full of breathtaking scenery, abandoned mansions and horse stalls, hidden rocky beaches, and stonewalls.

The Point Neighborhood: Recommended by TCC Crew Member Mollie, and personally one of my favorite places to walk around! It’s the oldest neighborhood in Newport so bring that camera and get ready to capture the cutest of New England colonials. Mollie described the neighborhood perfectly saying, ‘The streets are named after trees, sailboats replace cars in driveways, vintage Land Rovers line the streets in the summer, and American flags adorn nearly every shingled barn.’

Now doesn’t that sound perfect!

Pawtuxet Village, RI: Recommended by TCC Crew Member Corinne and another one of my favorite spots! This New England village captures the essence of a charming New England town. It’s completely worth exploring, and don’t forget that camera.

Where to Eat:

Clarke Cooke House, Newport RI:  Recommended by TCC Crew Member Mollie, this restaurant is located on Bannisters Wharf and was built in 1780, soooooo New England.  In the wintertime, no other word describes this restaurant besides cozy. Mollie recommended we try ‘the hearty meals of apple glazed chicken or fresh cod followed by almond macaroons!’

Um, doesn’t that sound amazing, I’ve never been but I’ve already made plans to go there for my birthday!

Rosemary and Thyme, Newport RI: I always have to include at least one breakfast joint in the mix. Recommended by TCC Crew Member Corinne, this restaurant is a must, so get there early or prepare to wait!

Flatbread, Providence RI: Recommended by TCC Crew Member Corinne, you really can’t go wrong with a good pizza! So I was ecstatic when Corinne recommended this joint to us, I LOVE a good flatbread and who doesn’t love Italian food in Providence!

The Newport Lobster Shack, Newport RI: I had to include this little number, for all you seafood lovers! Trust me it’s good!

Where to Grab a Latte:

Shayna’s Place, Wickford RI: Recommended by TCC Crew Member Mollie, this cafe is #instagramworthy, behind the cafe sailboats are tied to the docks, and the charming New England interior makes it the perfect spot to curl up.

Mollie said her favorite thing in the fall, “is to grab a cup of tea, wrap up in a blanket, and watch the mahogany sailboats navigate their way around the harbor.”

Allie’s Donuts, North Kingstown RI: Recommended by TCC Crew Member Corinne, and named Rhode Island’s best donuts, Allies Donuts are a must for any donut lover, YUM. I spent an hour scrolling through all their donut pictures on facebook, #notsorry.

What to Do:

Mollie, Corinne & I basically all listed the same ‘To-Do’ list when it comes to activities in RI, so I’ve just listed a few below:

  • Visit the Newport Mansion! The Breakers is my favorite by far!
  • Take a walk in the Norman Bird Sanctuary & bring a camera
  • Charter an America’s Cup Winning Yacht, I personally did this with my family & loved it. Hold on, though, they move fast!
  • Walk around downtown Newport RI

Scenic New England Instagram-Worthy Spot:

Finally, we compiled the best of the best when it comes to #instagramworthy spots:

  • Cliff Walk
  • Second Beach
  • Newport Mansions
  • The Harbor
  • Brenton Point at the end of Ocean Drive
  • & Jamestown

Okay, & that about does it! I hope you guys enjoyed that little guide, and let me know below if you want more of these! I personally love travel guides, but I’m here to please you 🙂 xx Aubrey
