I know, I know. that title seems pretty desperate!

But I am not kidding when I say this place is probably one of the most romantic places to go. So of course being me, I have experienced many interactions (some interactions I wish not to relive) with PDA & a few creepers trying to be romantic (aka the staff at the restaurants...ew).

The reason why I believe this place is filled with romance is because all you can do here is, literally stroll around historic buildings, look at beautiful rivers, snuggle up on park benches & go out to dinner. Florence gives you a lot of time to relax, re-wind & get romantic.

& of course I am here alone, so I get to relax, re-wind, & people watch ( oh the things I have seen). Anyways, what I have decided from people watching, is that Florence is pretty romantic on its own. This city  is filled with an ample amount of “cute-date-spots”. However since I am forever in a long distance relationship & get to see many romantic things alone, I am kind of use to the awkward situations that result from traveling solo. italian markets & lucca saturdays

Yesterday my friends & I went to Lucca, a medieval town which is peaceful and a great place to rewind, & we figured it would make the perfect Saturday outing. We renting some basket bikes & rode around the town. & let me tell you, I never thought riding a bike was a romantic thing. But the couples in Italy took it to the next level. I was visually flaunted with couples holding hands, while riding these humble bikes. Which, 1st off riding a European Bike isn’t as easy as it might seem! These bikes are a humbling experience, to say the least; the fact that they are horribly bent out of shape, have flat tires and look like they could keel over & dye ever peddle, makes the bike ride really interesting.

However couples hand by hand and bike pedal by bike pedal, rode around the bumpy walls of Lucca, as if it was no big deal. ( I was truly impressed ).

However little old me, on my bike alone strolling through the streets, realized that while being alone in the most romantic city might have awkward written all over it; I still am able to see all that the city as to offer at my own pace & on my own time. Basically traveling solo means a vacation of you time; you get to see what you want, do what you want, & eat what you want. churches and history in lucca

So for now it is just Gelato & I taking Florence by storm. We have our ups & we have our downs, (4.00 euros for 3 scoops is the down) but overall I always come back to my favorite gelato place, Venchi (which I mispronounce about 100 times a day).

Oh well, one day I’ll come back to Europe and bring Matt here to do some couple bike riding & food eating. But until then I have no shame in saying,…

Bicycle for one.
